The International Cricket Council (ICC) has banned former Sri Lanka Captain Sanath Jayasuriya from all cricket for two years. Jayasuriya’s ban stems from his refusal to cooperate in the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit’s investigation.

The 49-year-old admitted to two breaches of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code, which relates to refusal to cooperate in part of a wider investigation into corruption in Sri Lankan cricket.

Jayasuriya, who retired in 2012, is a former chairman of selectors.

While Jayasuriya failed to cooperate, the ICC said 11 players and participants have come forward.

Jayasuriya’s breaches include failure or refusal, without compelling justification, to cooperate with any investigation carried out by the ICC as well as obstructing or delaying any investigation that may be carried out by the ACU, including concealing, tampering with or destroying any documentation or other information that may be relevant to that investigation.
