New Maritzburg United striker Jeremy Brockie believes that Mamelodi Sundowns playing style not suiting him was one of the key reasons for him not succeeding at the Absa Premiership champions.

The 31-year-old ended a forgettable 18-month stay at Chloorkop last week when he moved to the Team of Choice on deadline day.  The New Zealander joined on a year-long loan deal and will be looking to kick-start his career again after a tough time with the Brazilians.

Brockie refused to blame anyone for what happened during his one-and-a-half years at Sundowns, including coach Mosimane.

Instead, he praised the former Bafana Bafana mentor for the dynasty he had built at the club, which is the most successful in South African football history over the past decade.

Brockie only made 12 league starts for Sundowns, scoring just one goal along the way. It was a massive disappointment from a player who had joined the Brazilians as one of the hottest commodities in the Premier Soccer League at the start of 2018.

This after scoring over 50 goals for SuperSport United prior to his move to their Tshwane rivals. He says that sitting on the bench was frustrating, but something he got used to dealing with. Report by Thahir Asmal
