Smart Nation Concepts has developed a solar school bag for disadvantaged learners.
To address the problem of pupils studying under candle light, the bag has a rechargeable and detachable solar light which can be used at home for studying.
The bag which is made of recyclable material also has a pocket for safe keeping of sanitary pads.
Hundreds of bags have been donated to pupils in township schools around Gauteng.
Smart Nation Concepts’ Founder, Sisanda Mbizo says, “We have a concept which we have developed which is a school bag which is meant for school kids and this school bag is a functional school bag, it’s not just an ordinary school bag, we’ve added some features to it, such a solar light.”
