Working from home during the pandemic has many benefits including a pyjama dress code and the world’s shortest commute.
But switching from meeting rooms to virtual video calls also comes with its drawbacks, such as the heart-stopping moment you’re asked to share your screen with colleagues and panic about every internet tab you’ve ever opened.
One worker appeared to have found the perfect work from home loophole when her internet failed, leaving her to tell her boss she wasn’t able to log on and to begin mentally preparing for a day on the sofa.
But she was left a little red-faced when she forwarded the message from her internet provider informing her the service had failed in her area, and forgot all about the name she had given her WiFi.
TikTok user @Jessgracew shared a video showing the message she had sent to her boss, writing: ‘Told my boss I couldn’t log on today because my Wi-Fi was out and sent him a screenshot of the outage…’
It shows the alert informing her that the internet was out in the area and was currently unavailable, before revealing that she had set her WiFi name to the very professional title: ‘It hurts when IP’.
Hopefully her boss appreciated the internet-related gag, which is up there with ‘Drop it like its hotspot’ and ‘Silence of the LAN’.
The clip has been viewed nearly 600,000 times and racked up hundreds of comments, as other people added their own similar WiFi names.
One wrote: “Ours is ‘IP when I sneeze'” and second said: “Lol mine is ScreamingWhenIP and the 5G is ScreamingLouderWhenIP.”
A third replied: “Mine is ‘police surveillance van’. Keeps the neighbours on their toes.”
And another moved to reassure her, adding: “I feel like that is in the appropriate range where your boss thinks it’s funny.”
